At the time of visiting, March 2009, Beijing had three BRT (bus rapid transit) lines. These photos are predominantly from line 1, which started on the south side of Tiananmen Square, and had the most associated infrastructure, which includes central island stops, separate areas for arrival and departure, and very unusually, platform dispatch staff. Vehicles IIRC were largely Iveco/Youngman articulated buses.
